Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Four kilometres of sand and mosaic boardwalk, busy from morning on with runners, kiosks and beach sport. The Leme end is calmer, and the fort at the Arpoador end gives a clean view back along the bay. Mornings are the quietest time.

Pros
  • +Sunrise over the ocean
  • +Flat boardwalk for gimbal runs
  • +Kiosks and bathrooms the whole way
Cons
  • Crowded by mid-morning
  • Keep gear close on the sand
